Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Quick salad with pink stuff and a small roundtable pizza. Same quality as other stores. Good pizza, would be better with fresh rather than canned ingredients. Service was OK but then almost now one else there, kitchen was busy doing take out.

Worst place ever! Dirty & Dim. Black Soot on ceiling...just not what it used to be. Teenager workers lack customer service skills. Please save your time and money.

Best pizza in Overland Park! I love their crust. It's crispy and flaky, not like cardboard like a lot of thin crust pizza. Sauce is great as well. Even if you aren't a big fan of salad, you'll love theirs with "the pink stuff" dressing. By far my favorite pizza! Pricing is higher than chain pizza places, but taste is so much better. You can also sign up to receive texts, and they will occasionally send you deals on half price pizza!

There's a reason they are famous for their pink sauce. It's REALLY good on a salad. The pizza size is a little small, but the quality is very good. They have a unique crust that is different in a good way. Not the best pizza place in KC, but very good.

A little pricey for a sandwich, but over all not too bad. Had the Italian sub @ $7. Price doesn't look bad however compared to the amount/size of the sandwich it's smidgen to much.

  • Sean R.

The pizza is good. It's got a unique cracker crust. However the king size pizza isn't that big. Enough for 2-3 people I'd say. So you'd have to spend a lot more here to feed a big group.

When we want pizza this place is our number one choice. The sausage pizza is the best.

This Pizza Shoppe review is only for this location! I have been to several PS's and I love their business and pizza. I frequent another location and was expecting the same great service and food but this location was NOT what I was expecting. I took a friend and was raving about the "pink sauce" and how good it is. We ordered personal pizzas and salad and when the salad with pink sauce arrived, something was off. I think something in it was on it's way to expiring and there was little to no garlic flavor to it. I asked if maybe there was something missing and the response I received was "nope, just like we always have it." The pizzas arrived and were pretty much tossed on the table and then that was the extent of the customer service. We were the only table in there for quite some time due to the time of day (around 3pm) and they had plenty of opportunity to refill our glasses, check to see if everything was ok, etc but that didn't happen. And as with any moment you are not satisfied with service, I tend to notice the restaurant more; it could use a good cleaning and so could the staff. So... don't let this review keep you away from all Pizza Shoppe locations but maybe just this one.

Classic Ma and Pa shop. You go for the crispy, cheesy thin pizza, not the decor or televisions. We went on a Friday night; it was busy. We had the side salad with the famous pink dressing--I liked it, if a bit gimmicky. We ordered two pizzas, one classic pepperoni and one with just about everything. Our waitress was nice and bustling around the shop. Pizza was very crispy but not overly thin. Next time I think I'll order but get takeout.

5 years in this neighborhood and I finally had a chance to try Pizza Shoppe for a company event the other day. Really not bad, but not distinctive enough for me to give up Papa John's or Pizza Hut for those times I need that delivered pizza...

Not enough cheese, but other than that, really good. Seats need recushioning.

My favorite pizza. The salad house dressing is a must try. Have to admit, I did not like it when my server said I could not have the kids meal. What is up with that?!

Stopped in here to get carryout the other weekend. My plan was to order there and have a beer while waiting since Pub is included in the name of the business. Well, forget that, they only serve sodas here. How do you advertise and name yourself as a restaurant and pub if you don't actually serve alcohol? Anyway, the inside reminded me of a Pizza Hut. Not good for dining in, but good, not great pizza for carryout.

My family and I used to eat pizza shoppe as a kid, and I thought it was great. We always went to the one off Santa Fe in near downtown Overland Park. I still visit them every now and then hoping that that same quality hasn't left, but it doesn't seem like they have staffed the restaurant with employees that care, because of lately, I've expressed concern how my pizzas were soggy crust, and not crisp and flaky like I remember. They say their oven is broke, but over the past 5 trips within 9 months, things haven't gotten any better. I hope when I come back next year they have taken heed to my advice and done something about the problem.

I tried this place for lunch today - I had the Mini pizza lunch special which comes with a salad and drink. I originally asked for Ranch dressing - the house dressing is "the Pink" - but when I picked up my carryout order I mentioned that I never had "the Pink" so he said he would throw in a container of that as well. I ordered the "Butcher Block" special pizza which is an assortment of meats - sausage, bacon, ham... and it was tasty! Even with all of that meat is wasn't greasy - Thanks John G! The pizza kind of reminds me of Gatti's that I used to eat in Wichita Falls, TX many many many years ago - which I miss immensely. The house dressing "the Pink" which was described by the counter guy as a creamy Italian style was more like an Italian/Thousand Island combination and PINK! But is was tasty as well. I grabbed a cup of Maggie Moo's chocolate chocolate chip ice cream out of the little frig unit by the front counter for dessert - I am going to have to do a little research on where this stuff comes - it is creamy and smooth and very delicious and I want some more!

I made it back in to Pizza Shoppe today with the same friend mentioned in my previous review. Sadly, today was another disappointing day when it comes to Pizza Shoppe. Mondays they have a 1 topping Queen/King deal for $7.49/$9.49. We opted for the King with pepperoni and added sausage. This time I asked for extra sauce on the pizza as well due to the dry pizza last time. It came out and didn't look to great. I can't really pinpoint the problem, but for some reason it was unappealing to the eye. There was plenty of Italian sausage on it, but the flavor wasn't really there. To me it tasted a lot like the sausage on a Tombstone pizza. I mean, that sausage isn't terrible, but it could have been better. The pepperoni was under the cheese and basically unidentifiable. Overall, the pizza I had just wasn't great. I can't really see myself going back anytime soon.

I tried to give this place another chance, and continue to be underwhelmed. My waitress was back to my table only once after dropping off food and I didn't see her again until she collected my money. The chicken fettucini tasted average, and the chicken seemed slightly undercooked. If you want cheap lunch, this will do. If you want good pizza or pasta, look elsewhere.

This place is one of my lunch standbys. Although their food is not outstanding, it is good and solid. Their lunch special is a personal-sized pizza and a salad. The salad bowl is crammed with lettuce, topped with a ton a shredded cheese (almost too much cheese) and two pepperoni slices. They push their own salad dressing (the pink stuff), but I like their vinagarette better. The pizza is always fresh and tasty, similar to the thin-crust Pizza Hut of old. It is not Spin! pizza, but is a close second in my book. The wait staff is always very attentive and friendly. They do a good job here.

Every time I have moved to a new city I go on a quest to find good food. KC is a food town almost to the level of Chicago :) but of course it is not quite there yet! I have visited many cities in the US and I have never found a place with better food options than Chicago. However KC is slowly but surely giving Chicago a run for its money. KC has excellent BBQ, but I am not a huge BBQ eater. Chicago still has the best pizza in the world, Giordano's or Nancy's deep dish pizza is not in the same league as the one from Uno`s Pizzeria. However I have found the best think crust pizza I have ever tasted. The place is called Pizza Shoppe and it is also famous the pink stuff... their salad dressing. I have to admit that the salad dressing is very good, but my favorite thing there is the pizza. They have awesome ingredients that taste very fresh and their dough is superior to anything else I have tasted elsewhere. The cheese is also plenty but the pizza is never greasy. It has always been hard for me to find good pizza and I am extremely pleased with what I have found so far. So if you are in KS, MO, OK or NB go check out one of their locations. You will not be disappointed.
